Comanche Point, Grand Canyon National Park

After Winslow, A and I drove up the Grand Canyon and spent the night right on the rim.  We hiked to Comanche Point.  We saw so many awesome things: a complete elk skeleton, collared lizards, desert roses…More photos to come later…

Looking out towards the Little Colorado River.

Taking it in before we cook dinner.

Pretty sunset.

A's ready to eat.

The next morning we went and found a spot to relax and read.  Then, we went out to Comanche Point, where we unbelievably ran into one other man.  We were all surprised to see another person out here.

I left my map at work.  Probably would have been useful.  We walked along the rim which tuckered me out, to say the least.

Winslow Wall

A came up so we went to Winslow Wall.  I didn't take any new photos, so I only have these old ones.  I didn't do much climbing, but A did a most fantastic job on Slap My Fro.

Sunset Crater, Wupatki, Grand Canyon, Devil's Bridge, Jerome

On Saturday, my friend Alex drove up from Tucson to check out Northern Arizona.  We put my Parks Pass to good use!

First stop: Sunset Crater

Next up, Wupatki.

As we headed to the Grand Canyon, we stopped at one of the scenic viewpoints.  Here's the Little Colorado River.  Impressive!

We went to Desert Vista, and climbed to the top.  The canyon was pretty hazy.

Then we drove to Bright Angel to check out the hotels.  We walked down the Bright Angel Trail a little bit.
And there we saw a Western Tanager!  So beautiful.
We ate dinner at the Bright Angel Lodge and then headed back to Flagstaff.

The next morning, we woke up early, picked up my friend Karen, and drove down Oak Creek Canyon.  We stopped off at Devil's Bridge to take some photos:
And then ate lunch in Jerome.  The picture is looking inside of a kaleidoscope at the awesome Nellie Bly's (you can check out the store here http://nellieblyscopes.com)
Then we headed to my friend's house for some music and bbq.  A most excellent weekend!

Horseshoe Bend, Arizona

I had an hour to kill in Page, so I headed over to Horseshoe Bend.  It's about a 3/4 of a mile hike to the edge.  I think I need to go back during better lighting!
